DIALUX EVO 

                                 CHAPTER 1 

What is dialux ????

               DIALux is a professional lighting design software, where we can realize single rooms, whole floors, buildings and outdoor scenes. We can also calculate and visualize light levels in real time. In this session we intended to help you to work quickly and effectively with 7.1 version of Dialux evo. . If you have already had experience with other programmes in Windows, you should not have any difficulty getting started. You can easily download the software for free from the link given below. https://www.dial.de/en/dialux-desktop/download/dialux-evo-download/ .  After installation just double click on the dialux evo application to get the software running . 

Getting started 

Basics

 How to create a room???

            Even though there are many functions in dialux , for beginners lets see how can we create a room

Step 1 

 On starting the application you will see a page like this

Click on empty rectangular room 

STEP 2

In this page you will see various fields to enter dimensions of the room . You can enter your desired room dimensions here .

For now we are going to enter Length =5m,Width=3m,Height=4m and wall thickness = 0.200m. And click OK. Then you will see a page as shown below

This is the basic 2D work space( Top View) of Dialux evo 7.1. And the rectangle in the white space shows the top view of our room with the exact dimensions that we have entered earlier. We can also switch the 2D mode to 3D just by clicking the green cube on the top of the panel.This will bring you to a new 3D workspace as shown below .

Step 3

Now as our room is ready now we are going to insert a ceiling to the room as shown below

For this , click on the ceiling icon in the sidebar and enter the ceiling height ( Distance of shell floor) as 3.65. Also note that we cannot enter the ceiling height same as that of the roof height.

STEP 4

In this step we are going to create a building opening

             •  Creating a Door 

For Creating a door , first of all switch to 2D view go to Apertures icon and select the desired door from the objects tab

      After selecting the door you can place the door in two ways 

1) By Position Active Building Opening 

          Just click on the Position Active Building Opening icon and click the mouse pointer on the position where you want to insert the door into the room .

2) By Draw New Building Opening 

 

                Just click on the Draw New Building Opening icon you can draw a building opening any where in the room 

              The main advantage of this icon is that ,here we can define the door width .

 • Creating a Window 

              This is also same as that of the door . instead of selecting the door just select window from the objects tab and insert into the drawing using any of the above two methods.

CONCLUSION

                In this session we have learned how to construct a simple room using dialux . In the next session we will study on interior design and lighting
