DIALUX EVO
CHAPTER 2
In this segment we are going to design the interior of the room. It consists of
selecting the appropriate material for wall and floor, we are also going to do a small lighting for
the room as well. Before getting started we need a clear view of our interior, for this click on the
room icon on the top bar which gives you an alternative view of the interior as shown below .
Interior Design
Step 1
Create Floor Material
Go to materials icon and select an appropriate material for your floor. You
can see that there are lot of options in the catalogs which you can use. Here we are going to use
“White Square Tiles”.
Select it and click on apply material icon and apply on the floor .
STEP 2
CREATING WALL MATERIAL
Now you can see that the floor is replaced with white tiles. And for the walls,
same as done in the floor select an appropriate design. Here we are going to select merbau wood.
Now applying it into our room we get a new look to out room as shown below.
STEP 3
INSERTING FURNITURE
In this section we are going to insert some furniture in to room to make it more
realistic . For this go to furniture and objects tab and go to select and you can see various
furniture’s , shapes and objects listed there . If it is not visible just go to the catalogs tab and load
all the objects in it.
From here we are going to select some interesting furniture to make the room look more
attractive . To start with it , we select a table from the objects tab and inserted it to the room.
Also note that there are various options in the tabs that we will discuss in the later sessions.
STEP 4
After inserting table into the room you can also move , rotate and scale the table
according to your wish, just by right clicking the table as shown.
---- MOVE OPTION
This options allows us to move the object anywhere we fit without
changing the orientation of the object .As you can see when we select the move command we
can see 3 axis (x ,y and z) where we can move the object . If we want to move in the x direction
then you can click the arrow lying in the x plane and move the object as shown .
In dialux the RED ARROW represents the x plane , the GREEN ARROW shows the yplane
and the BLUE ARROW represents the Z-Plane .
------ROTATE OPTION
This option allows us to change the orientation of the object. For this, right
click on the object and select the rotate command. Then same as that of the move command the
x,y and z arrows will appear. Instead of moving here we can rotate the object in any plane as
shown below .
-----SCALE OPTION
This option allows us to change the size of the object . Here also by clicking and dragging the arrows in the respective plane we can change the size with respective to that plane .
The above options can also be changed by entering specific values on the side bar as
shown . This is much simpler if we know the exact values .
Now by the same method we can insert other objects , chairs etc and decorate the room as
per your idea .
You can also change the texture and color of the objects by going to the materials
options as shown in step 2 . Here instead of applying the material on to the wall we apply to the
objects that we inserted
CONCLUSION
In this session we learned how to design the interior of a room with dialux . This
is one of the simplest designs that we can do in dialux . In the next chapter we will learn how to
light up the entire room .
